Yin Season Intentions

Winter season, Yin energy, Water element

The days are shorter, the temperatures are cooler.

Many aspects of Traditional Chinese Medicine are founded in observations of nature. To live optimally, I encourage you to embrace the cyclical changes of seasons. Observe what’s shifting around you — mimic those shifts.

Yin is dark, cold, inward, slow, feminine.

The organ is the kidneys. The element is water.

Flow with the yin energy by embracing rest and opting into restorative activities —

Go to bed earlier — focus on conserving your qi rather than overusing it

Eat warm, slow cooked foods — keep cold, raw foods to a minimum

Drink warming teas such as ginger, turmeric & cinnamon — avoid iced beverages

Nature walks, yoga and gentle movement

The kidneys are responsible for maintaining longevity & vitality, the process of aging, and supporting our immunity.

Restoring and nourishing your kidney energy during this season will provide you with optimal support for the year to come.

Acupressure on the kidney meridian —

Start at the bottom of the foot, follow the inner surface of the foot up to the ankle, and continue up the inner-most aspect of the leg
